Welcome! My name is Katelin Krieg, and I recently completed my PhD in English Literature at the University of Minnesota.

My research explores how 19th century writers across artistic and scientific disciplines used literary forms, visual art, and scientific models to change how their readers understood nature and art. I argued that Victorian writers inaugurated new sets of observational protocols through key formal devices, including metaphor, juxtaposition, and aphorism.

There is one fundamental question that drives both my teaching and research:  how can modes of representation alter our perception and change how we think?

I would love to hear from you, especially if you think we can collaborate! Connect with me at krie0210 [at] umn [dot] edu or on Twitter
